What you're agreeing to when you book the car in — including the honest limits of what paint correction can do.
Build note: boilerplate shaped to this business, referencing the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. It is not legal advice — have it checked before publication.
These are the terms you're agreeing to when you book work with Northline Auto Detailing Ltd, company number 12845673, Unit 14, Riverside Trade Park, Green Lane, Stockport, SK4 2JW.
A price given from photographs or a description is an estimate range, not a quote. We can't see a panel properly until it's under our lights. Prices shown on the site are "from" figures and depend on vehicle size and condition.
A firm quote is given once we've seen the car and taken paint depth readings. That figure is what you pay. If we find something during the work that changes what's needed, we stop and tell you, and you decide — we never carry out extra work and invoice for it afterwards.
Booking a slot may require a deposit, which comes off the final invoice. Cancel or move with more than 48 hours' notice and it carries over or is refunded in full. Cancel with less, or don't turn up, and we may keep it — a bay held empty is a day we can't fill. If we cancel, you get it back in full.
Ceramic coating bookings must be dropped off by 09:00 unless arranged otherwise, so there is a full working day of light. Saturday slots are limited and must be booked in advance.
If you booked over the phone or online without visiting us, you normally have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you've asked us to start within that period and we have, you may owe us for work already done.
Please take valuables and personal items out before drop-off. Vehicles are kept inside the locked unit while work is carried out, with CCTV covering the entrance and working area, an alarm system and controlled access. Keys go into a locked key cabinet when not in use.
We hold motor trade road risk cover for driving your vehicle, and our insurance carries storage and security conditions which we meet. If a car is left more than 14 days after we've said it's ready, we may charge reasonable storage.
This is where most disputes in this trade come from, so read it properly.
Correction works by removing a very small amount of lacquer — usually one to three microns a pass — to level the surface around a defect. The clear coat on a modern car is roughly 35 to 50 microns within a total stack of about 100 to 180. There is a finite amount, and once it's gone it can't be put back.
We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, failing or delaminating lacquer, poor previous respray work, or corrosion that only becomes visible once a surface is cleaned.
Ceramic coatings are covered by the manufacturer's stated warranty when the required maintenance and inspection schedule is followed. Warranty coverage relates to coating performance.
It does not cover scratches, stone chips, accidental damage, improper washing or contamination caused after installation. Automatic brush car washes will damage a coated finish and invalidate cover.
Free collection and return within five miles of the unit for ceramic coating and paint correction bookings. Beyond five miles it can be arranged for a charge agreed beforehand. The person collecting will be one of our team, never a third party. The vehicle must be taxed, insured and roadworthy for us to drive it.
The balance is due on collection, by card or bank transfer. We don't release a vehicle before the invoice is settled. Business accounts can be arranged on agreed terms, and late payment may carry interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 a service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where none was agreed. If something falls short, you're entitled to have it put right, and if that isn't possible, to a price reduction.
We hold public liability at £5m, employers' liability at £10m and motor trade road risk cover of £100,000. Certificates are in the unit and we'll show you them.
We accept liability for loss or damage caused by our negligence or breach of contract. We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. We are not liable for indirect losses such as loss of use or hire costs, except where the law says otherwise.
If you're unhappy, ring the unit and speak to James. Most complaints are a misunderstanding about what was achievable, and looking at the car together usually settles it. If it doesn't, put it in writing to the address above and we'll respond within 14 days.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
