What we collect when you enquire, why we hold it, how long we keep it and what you can make us do about it.
Build note: boilerplate shaped to this business and grounded in UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and ICO guidance. It is not legal advice — have it checked before publication.

| What for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and quoting the work | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Carrying out the work and contacting you about it | Performance of our contract with you |
| Depth readings and job photographs kept as a record | Our legitimate interests — evidence of the condition a car arrived in |
| Invoices, VAT and accounts | Compliance with a legal obligation |
| Marketing emails or texts | Your consent, withdrawable at any time |
| Record | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiries that never became a job | 12 months | People often come back a season later |
| Job records, photographs and depth readings | 6 years | The limitation period for contract claims under the Limitation Act 1980 |
| Invoices and accounting records | 6 years | HMRC requires tax and VAT records to be kept for six years |
| Marketing list | Until you unsubscribe | Consent, withdrawn when you say so |
| Coating warranty records | Warranty term plus 1 year | So we can honour a claim near the end of the term |
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it where we've no legal reason to keep it, restrict what we do with it, send it to you or another provider, stop processing based on legitimate interests, or stop marketing at any time.
Email us and we'll respond within one month, at no charge. One limit worth being straight about: where a record is kept because HMRC or the Limitation Act requires it, we can't delete it early even if you ask.
If you think we've handled your data badly, tell us first — it's usually something we can fix the same day. If you're not satisfied you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
If we change how we handle your data we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant we'll tell you directly rather than expecting you to notice.
