Two kinds of car on the same street

Cheadle Hulme is a substantial suburb — around 26,000 people at the last full count — and the driveways tell you everything. A good number of households here run one car that lives outside doing the school run and the commute, and a second that comes out at weekends and is kept properly.

The A34 corridor and what it throws up

The Kingsway runs straight through this patch and it is a fast, heavily used road. Cars that sit on it daily collect the same pattern we see off the M60: grit damage on the leading edges, brake dust baked onto wheel faces, and a film across the lower panels that ordinary washing never quite clears.

Wheels are the part most people underestimate. Coated wheel faces and barrels mean brake dust rinses off instead of etching in, and on a car doing the A34 every day that is the single change that makes the most visible difference between details.
